It was a busy 3 months squeezing in zoom maths lessons around her full time working week, doing test papers after work and on her days off, in an attempt to retain as much as possible, of what she had learned. Then after spending a couple of hours, with me, trying to make areas she was struggling in clearer, we sent her off to take the maths exam that she needed to gain a place at Uni to study nursing.
A nervous two and a half hours later she was home, a big smile on her face, very positive. Everything we had worked on that morning had appeared in the exam and she was as confident as she could be.
There was then an anxious twelve day wait until she received the message she had been waiting for, ……………… congratulating her on passing 👏👏👏👏. The last piece of the jigsaw had slotted into place and we are all so pleased for her as she starts the next chapter of her life.
She has always been a confident young lady, but over the past year she has worked so hard to improve her skills, undertaking cannulating, taking bloods and giving Covid vaccinations, to give herself the best possible chance of being accepted onto nursing training. All the effort has been worth it.
It is going to be a hard slog. It’s a four year course split into two, two year stages. She will have to attend University one day per week, will have assignments to complete, and have different work placements, all alongside working full time. But she has the support of her Matron ( and of course her family) and she is now ready for the challenge.
We are all very happy for her and so proud of her achievements. We are not however, quite ready to become patients for her to practice on 🤣🤣🤣

Wow…what a girl! That’s excellent news Kay. Sounds like Megan (and Nan!) has worked really hard to achieve her Maths qualification. We’re really chuffed for her. Thank you. She has worked very hard. Fortunately it seems with a little help this time it clicked. Her hard work will have to continue for the next four years (and beyond) but she’s very positive & really looking forward to the challenge
