Girls night out

Amidst the busy life of retirement, my eldest daughters shifts at the local hospital and my youngest daughters busy life, working and looking after her family, it’s a rare occurrence that the three of us manage an evening out together.

Leaving the young ones at home with their Dad, & no one working the next day, we made our way to the local theatre, to see Menopause the Musical 2. The first one had been hilarious and with my daughters galloping towards that time of life we were looking forward to a fun filled evening.

We boarded the cruise ship to join four friends, looking forward to a relaxing trip away from the rigours of husbands, housework and ageing. As we set sail for our adventure, we got to know their characters, the ups and downs of  their lives and their dreams for the future.

They took us on a hilarious musical journey of all things menopausal. The joys of constant weariness as we fight to overcome hot flushes both day and night. The anguish of weight gain, no matter what you do, of bat wings appearing at the top of your arms, the wonders of spandex, and bosoms heading south, needing scaffolding to hold them where they used to sit.

There were songs about mood swings and getting annoyed, even angry at petty things and memory lapses forgetting what you came into a room for. Unflinching tunes of the need for Tena ladies, to catch any accidents when sneezing 🤧 and a loss of libido. The women in the audience empathising with every word, laughter bringing tears to their eyes. The very few men in the audience perhaps being enlightened to the changes in their partners lives 🤣.

As we laughed our way through the evening we discovered we are not alone. Whether you sail through fairly unaffected, or suffer a full blown menopause, with a little help from our girlfriends we will all make it through to the other side….. eventually.

A fabulous, funny tale of four friends of a certain age, supporting each other through the choppy seas thrown at them during their menopausal years.

It was so true, of conversations I have with my own girlfriends.

Go watch it if you can.

😴🥵🔥🤬🥂🤬🔥🥵😴
