Having lived with someone who, for the past twenty five years has worked shifts both weekends and nights, the first weekend of retirement has been liberating.
We have been partying all weekend. Firstly a fabulous girlie catch up followed by an evening of free music and boogie, with lovely people, topped up with probably a few too many ciders π». Even the constant drizzle couldn’t dampen our spirits .
On Saturday Hastings carnival week started with the annual tug of war competition. Fortunately the sun shone down and the crowds gathered. Such a shame the heavens opened in the afternoon and people dispersed home.
The sun put his hat back on on Sunday and we ventured out again for more free entertainment. A local band we used to go to watch when we first met, were playing at the bandstand in the park. Who’d have thought forty years later we’d be sitting on our deck chairs, with a picnic in the park listening to the same great music.
Then back to the Old Town for more free music and a little bit more cider, bopping away with friends old and new till early eveningππΊ. Making plans for the future. Fab-u-lous.
Who knew being retired would be so much fun. Don’t think anything could wipe the smile off my face at the moment.
Can’t wait to see what adventures await π
