Like most people, we enjoy having things in the diary to look forward to. Sometimes, though we book things so far in advance, we almost forget that it’s upcoming and then it’s a mad scramble to find the tickets or the confirmation email 😬.

 

We had such an outing back in September, as way back in December’23, the Bestie spotted the Blue Man Group, was touring the Uk and performing at the London Palladium. I didn’t know much about the Blue Man Group, apart from they are painted blue and play the drums 🤷‍♀️. But we’re always up for something new and we’ve never been to the Palladium, so the tickets were booked and confirmation emails received. However, not realising I already had an account with the ticket company, my confirmation email was sent to an old email address 😳. Fortunately I still had limited access and after a bit of toing and froing with the company, the confirmation was diverted to my current email 😮‍💨.

The tickets were due to be delivered 24 hours prior to the show. Having only returned from holiday 6 days before the performance, I was a little nervous that they would also be sent to my old email. True to their word though, the day before, the tickets popped into my inbox 👏👏.

Being a matinee, we didn’t have much time to plan anything beforehand. We took a stroll along Carnaby Street and wandered the streets of Soho, before stopping for lunch. We passed the aptly named, Shakespeare’s Head pub and then there was Liberty’s. Wow what an amazingly beautiful building. We had followed the store during a documentary, but never been to see it. Maybe after the show.🤷‍♀️

Around the corner we arrived at the famous theatre. Up in the Royal Circle it was pretty full and the comedy began on stage, even before the show started. And as they hit the stage, it was a non stop whirlwind of drumming, comedy, audience participation and tricks.

There was no verbal interaction between the group, just communication using gestures of amazement. Totally weird, yet hilariously funny. Many of the audience in the stalls were obviously followers and anticipated many of the stunts. There was a section, where some water was sprayed from the stage and the first few rows of audience had been supplied with showerproof ponchos.

The group were joined on stage by a female drummer. She was absolutely brilliant. She joined the guys playing, but also performed several amazing solo sets.

The Bestie checked us in on social media and my daughter made a comment that she’s always wanted to see them. Oh my goodness, I never knew 😬. I felt such a bad Mum 🥲,  especially as there were two empty seats right next to us. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for another tour and book some more tickets 🎫.

We returned to Liberty’s to actually take a look inside. Such an exquisite building on the inside too. With a vast, central atrium, they were able to have a magnificent centre piece that could be enjoyed from all angles as we climbed the floors.

The Christmas shop was open, so many baubles, decorations and trees. Mostly above our price range, but it was interesting to peruse whilst enjoying the building.

Dirty Bones, a short walk away, was to be our last stop of the day as now dinner was calling. Being midweek, we discovered we were just in time for 2 for 1 cocktails 🍸 .  Be rude not to so we got our orders in before 6pm 😂.

What better way to end a lovely day, spicy chicken, pickles and a cocktails.
