My little sister obviously enjoyed our recent trip to the local theatre to see Rhythm Of The Dance and wasn’t too upset that the bar man thought we were twins, despite being 2 1/2 years younger than me, as she invited me to join her at the same theatre to see a Tina Turner tribute act.

I think it was her intention for it to be just the two of us, but her daughter overheard the conversation and invited herself along, which in turn led to both my daughters joining us. And why not, a nice evening out with our, not so, baby girls.

Little sis did good and secured central seats, third row from the stage, We had to look up a little, that’s the story of my life 🙄 but we had a perfect view. There was a bit of time, before the performance started, to catch up with what everyone’s been up to and enjoy a little G&T whilst doing so.

But from the moment the performers hit the stage, the energy engulfed us, and we were treated to a fabulous compilation of Tina Turner songs, from We dont need another hero, to Nutbush city limits, from Private dancer to Goldeneye. There are so many to choose from, that are stored in the depths of your memory, almost forgotten, until someone plays them to you. (Or maybe that’s the dementia kicking in 😂).

There were a couple of wardrobe malfunctions, from “Tina” arriving on stage with her skirt not fully buttoned, quickly rectified between songs and a change of wig not quite positioned correctly. However the entire team were fabulous. The musicians very talented and passionate, both backing the lead and making solo performances. Two young singers/dancers had great voices and so much energy as they danced across the stage whilst singing choruses. A third supporting singer had an incredible voice and treated us to a solo, during  one of the costume changes.

“Tina” herself, also had an amazing voice and if you closed your eyes, it could have been the real deal on stage in front of us. She also had the same energy, dancing across the stage through the entire performance, encouraging audience participation. There was plenty of dancing in the aisles and by the end of the evening, most were standing and dancing at their seats. I would highly recommend an evening with Tina.

Such a wonderful girlie evening, with some of my favourite ladies,  filled with music, laughter and dancing. Might just need to find another show to enjoy in the not too distant future.
