The Bank Holiday continued and the sun came out to play, which was fabulous as our local pub, the Harrow Inn, was holding their annual music festival in the car park. With the stage in situ, tables and chairs filling the space, usually reserved for patrons cars, a bottle bar in one corner and a bbq in the opposite, they were ready to go.

 

 

 

The Besties arrived early, with some of their Grandcherubs to enjoy the kiddies disco. We decided to wait a little later, but as we grabbed a drink and found them, the Grandcherubs were just heading off (with their parents) and we were able to acquire their seats 👍 perfect timing 🥰

The tables started to fill as we got ready to turn up the volume and welcome some local bands to the stage.

Helen Ward-Jackson as Adele, got the party started. Dressed as glamorously as the lady herself, she treated us to perfect renditions of some of Adele’s most famous and loved tunes. From Chasing Pavements to Rolling in the Deep, from Set Fire to the Rain to Rumour Has It, she entranced us, alone on the stage, for almost an hour. But she is a voice of many and was joined by local girl Jess to duet some ABBA, before belting out some Tina Turner.

Then the volume rose and the car park started to rock to the music of Stealer. The rockers amongst us started dancing at their tables, maybe waiting for the sun to set before venturing onto the dance floor.

The smell of the bbq tempted us to grab a bite, to soak up a little of the alcohol and give us time to catch up with friends.

The music changed once more as Bluesmans Lane hit the stage. With their mix of familiar tunes, the party atmosphere increased as more of the audience ventured onto the dance area.

By the time the final band, Smoking Jacket started to entertain us, the party was in full swing. The dance area filled with both kids and adults, as the last of the Summer sun continued to shine. They kept us entertained until the sun began to set.

What a fabulous event, which has become a staple in our social calendar. The variety of music, from elegance, through rock and blues to a great party mix band, had entertained us all. The weather had also played its part in bringing our local community together, helping us to support our lovely local pub. 

As we said our farewells, we had just a short walk up the hill home, feeling very lucky to have such a great event on our doorstep.
