Four years ago a lovely new member came to join our family and we named him Kenneth. We had lots of adventures planned, places to visit both near and far, just the two of us, with friends and with the Grandkids.
We have enjoyed some fun times with him:-
An initial outing, just the two of us a short half an hours drive away from home, to test out his “facilities”. We had a lovely couple of days in the sunshine, walking, cycling and wandering to the pub.
The twins were incredibly excited to join us on an adventure, so we headed off with the Besties and three of their Grandcherubs to Bournemouth. The kids had a fabulous time in the pool, on the beach and in the play park. They took their bikes to ride around the camp site and we had bbqs under the stars. All went well until we had a windy downpour and our awning collapsed soaking everything inside 🙄. Sadly we had to abandon ship and head for home.
We bought a new awning and undeterred by the previous experience, headed off again with the Besties, three Grandcherubs and the twins persuaded their brother to come too. Venturing a little further afield to Mersea Island in Essex we found ourselves on a lovely campsite, with huge play areas for the children, a lovely play park and outdoor swimming pool. Just a short walk to the beach, it was ideal. There was an evening beach combining, a visit to the zoo and lots of fun splashing about in the pool. A great early summer get away ☀️🏊♀️
Later that summer our Goddaughter got married and held her reception in the Besties garden. To enable us to enjoy the party into the wee hours, Kenneth came along too so we had a bed for the night and with bathroom facilities available from the reception we didn’t need to disturb the household till morning. It was, however, an earlier morning than expected, as we hadn’t anticipated being woken by the cockerel or one of the horses clip clopping passed to get his breakfast. But staying over also meant we were able to join the family at the village pub for breakfast. Wonderful memories 💕
Then the dreaded pandemic struck and life came to a grinding halt. Poor Kenneth sat lonely on the drive waiting to take us on more adventures. The weeks turned into months until we were finally set free to roam in the Summer.
August arrived and we escaped, for three nights of wild camping with friends. By wild I mean limited facilities, no electric hook ups, a water tap at the bottom of the field and a composting toilet at the top. With a fire pit to keep us warm in the evenings and Kenneth’s leisure battery keeping the alcohol cold in his fridge, what more did we need. We spent the days walking and enjoying the company of friends and the evenings chatting around the fire looking up at the stars in the clear skies. Perfect 🤩
We didn’t know it at the time but, with the various further lockdowns and overseas travel very prohibitive making everyone staycationing and campsites impossible to book, our wild camping experience was to be our last adventure in Kenneth 😢.
Life has subsequently got in the way and he has, again, become a lonely sight sitting on the drive. So it has been with a heavy heart that we decided it’s time for us to say a fond farewell and allow him to brighten the lives of another family. We are happy he seems to have found the perfect new home 💙
Bon voyage lovely Kenneth.
Thank you for the fabulous memories

Bon voyage Kenneth 👋😔 Have fun with your new family. Xx
👋😢🤗
You can always borrow our tent 🤣🤣
But the twins was sad to see Kenneth leave x
We were sad too, but it’s the right time for us. May be a bit old to be crawling into a tent now, but who knows. 🤣
