Elf

The final shop had been done and stowed, the pressies wrapped and placed under the tree, the turkey and gammon joints were defrosting, we had visited Mum and Sister-in-law to wish them a Merry Christmas, so it was now time for the festivities to commence.

It ‘‘twas the eve eve before Christmas and most of the household were heading to the theatre to see Elf the musical 🎶. Having booked tickets way back in February, we were excited that the day had finally arrived and were meeting the Bestie and some of her family there.

The house was full, and as the lights dimmed and Santa appeared at the side of the stage, all the little eyes were upon him.

He began narrating the tale of Buddy, an orphaned boy who had somehow snuck into Santas sack as a baby and been raised by the elves, not realising he was human.

The elves workshop became centre stage as they made toys for Christmas delivery. Buddy had grown so big, and wasn’t very accomplished at making toys either, so Santa had to take him aside to break the truth to him 😲.

The story follows his escapades as he travels to New York to find his real dad who, is on the naughty list and initially doesn’t accept him into his life.

Buddy is a bumbling character, who causes chaos wherever he goes. But with the help of, as in all good musicals, the songs and dance and of course his new found family, he overcomes all the obstacles to remind all New Yorkers and his Dad of the true meaning of Christmas.

As Santa arrives in New York on Christmas Eve, he crashes in Central Park because his sleigh flies only Christmas spirit alone and New York has very little.

When Buddy and his new found family and friends invoke Christmas spirit into the City, we see Santa flying across the stage much to the amazement of our twins 🤣🤣 Although they wouldn’t believe he was actually flying and we’re trying to see where the strings were holding the sleigh 🤦‍♀️.

It was another great show by the local BLODS. We all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. What a wonderful way to start our weekend of festivities.

We could let Christmas begin.
