No sooner have the children gone back to school, than poof, the Easter holidays are upon us 😩. And just when the sun was easing itself into our lives and we were enjoying the tranquility of our garden, the weather changed and we had snow flurries!!

With the schools closed, and outdoor facilities not opening until next week, we are again surrounded by noisy boys, charging around the house! We have also been doing some major work in the garden, so with that and the inclement weather they have been a little stuck indoors.

However with Dad around over the long weekend, the twins prepared their Easter bonnets and their was a very “eggcited” Easter egg hunt, resulting in piles of chocolate and even more hyperactive boys. In an effort to “eggspell” some of their energy, and to give the Grandparents some peace, they were taken for a lovely long bike ride and playtime in the play park.

We’ve also been growing vegetables and herbs in the conservatory, which although the boys have proved to be great gardeners, with very green fingers, they have absolutely no intention of trying their produce.

 

With the rule of 6 or 2 households now allowed to meet up outside, we had a play date with 2 of their cousins. With the threat of more snow flurries, we all wrapped up in coats and woolly hats. They had lots of fun racing around playing on the swings, slides and climbing trees.

We were also able to catch up with friends, in the garden to celebrate another of the gang turning 60. We surprised him at home, with balloons and gifts, and his wife had somehow prepared their garden for our visit, without him knowing, with blankets and hot water bottles to keep the chill off us. With a bottle of champagne and cake, it was so lovely to toast his birthday and retirement, and finally be able to socialise again.

As outdoor amenities start to open next week, our daughter has plans most days to get the boys out and about for the second week of their holiday. With bars and restaurants also opening their outdoor areas, we are looking forward to finally being able to catch up with small groups of friends.

Lets hope that everyone remains sensible, sticks to the guidelines and we can finally ease our way out of this strange time we’ve been living in.
