After our mammoth trek to Worcester, we returned home to the start of the school holidays. Joy!!

Liam received an electric scooter for Christmas and the twins new bikes.The electric scooter has only had one outing, which was a little bit disastrous as he struggled with the throttle & almost crashed scaring him so much he wouldn’t try it again, and the twins hadn’t been out at all on their bikes.

We therefore made it our mission to take them out to enjoy their new gifts. Fortunately we live near a school, whose gates are left open during the holidays. The fenced playground offers a fabulous place for learner drivers to practice a few times, before they are let loose around the unsuspecting public 🚲🚲🛴

We got off to a tentative start on Easter Sunday with the bikes. Their little legs struggling to keep the peddles going and it took a while to master the art of turning whilst the bike was still moving. Then there was using, or not, the brakes. Fortunately the surrounding grass and fence stopped them from straying to far. Quite a lot to get your little four year old head around all in one go. Unfortunately the electric scooter didn’t have enough charge on our first outing so had to be used as a normal scooter!

Easter Monday was a bit cooler and wetter, so we went and had breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The little ones had colouring to entertain them whilst breakfast was cooked. After everyone had finished their meal, the children went on an Easter trail following the Easter Bunny looking for clues and receiving a sticker and small Easter Egg as each was found. Then it was back to the cafe to decorate Easter Cookies with icing, marshmallows and sprinkles, whilst the adults enjoyed another cuppa. Fabulous morning.

The next couple of days were still a bit cool and damp, so donning wellies, hats and gloves we visited a couple of local woods. Day one was a little muddy, but walkable and we enjoyed collecting leaves, sticks and found a den to play in.

Day two and the second woodland walk with cousins was incredibly boggy. There was lots of slipping and sliding and several boots left stuck in the mud incidents. But we found a stream, a couple of waterfalls, more leaves and a field of horses.

Thank goodness for waterproof jackets, trousers, gloves, hats and wellie boots.

Then we had another day of bright weather and a little sunshine, so out came the bikes and scooters again. The twins quickly became masters of their bikes. They were soon peddling around the playground, aptly turning corners and using their brakes. Squealing with laughter as they whizzed around chasing each other.

With the electric scooter fully charged, Nanny & Granddad were able to give the three of them rides around the playground. Liam still a little bit wary of going it alone, but progress was made and hopefully a couple more trips & he’ll muster the courage to try it for himself.

After an exhausting week for the Grandparents, the family headed to Devon to see their paternal Grandmother, Granddad headed to Brussels on a stag weekend & Nanny had a blissfully peaceful weekend at home.
