Bottomless Afternoon 🍸

The Bestie’s and my girls have known each other all their lives, spending a lot of time together during school holidays and weekends as they were growing up. Now adults, with children of their own, it is rare that we all manage to get together at one time.

Mid November was one of those rare occasions, where the females of our two families gathered to go bottomless. Not literally 😳, we were heading for a bottomless brunch. Well at 4pm it was more tea than brunch, but no sooner had we taken our seats, the Prosecco started flowing and before the food arrived there were also several cocktails on the table. 🍸🍹. It was going to get messy 😬

It seemed to be a girls day out all round, as the restaurant was filled with tables of women all catching up with family and girlfriends. As time ticked by and cocktails continued to flow, the restaurant came alive with incredibly loud laughter and chatter.

Our food arrived, which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Sadly though, I feared it wouldn’t be sufficient to soak up the alcohol some of the younger members of our gang were consuming!! But they were having a great time catching up 🥰

There was gossip about holidays, their jobs, uni courses, their kids and their plans for the future. It was fabulous to listen to their banter and feel their joy at spending time together.

Our two hour slot flew by, and it was obvious no one was ready to call it a day, so we finished our cocktails, toasted our friendship with shots and wandered along to another cocktail bar.

Expecting it to be busy, on a Saturday evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of room for us all. We then realised it was still only 6.30 and the cocktails were 2 for £15. What was already a messy afternoon was about to get even messier 😂.

My eldest daughter and I managed one more cocktail and knew we were done with drinking, but happily continued chatting, and laughing with our merry brood as we watched them get merrier. Her daughter’s boyfriend came to collect her, but poor guy was persuaded to join us. First time we’d met, and it was an initiation by fire 😳. He had the look of a rabbit caught in headlights, but brave guy, stayed for one drink before they headed off together. (He was still talking to her the following morning, so he’s probably a keeper 😂)

For everyone else the night was still young, so as they gathered their belongings and grabbed a cab heading to the other end of town for a drag evening and more cocktails, my daughter and I hugged them all, sent them on their, by now very merry way and we grabbed a lift home from the hubby.

I heard my younger daughter roll in just after midnight, but it seems my granddaughter kept going till 2ish and was nursing a sore head the following morning, having missed her Pilates class too.

It was a lovely afternoon /evening. We may not all gather together very often, but the Bestie and I can be proud of the women our girls have become and know that wherever they roam and whatever they do, their surrogate sisters will always be there for them.

🍹🥰🍸

  1. As you say Kay we have lovely families to feel proud off and it’s so nice they all get along. It was a good afternoon, evening. If we get a lovely balmy evening this summer we need to do a cocktail evening Al Fresco – 🍸🍹🥴
