I have never been a big believer in horoscopes or what the stars can tell us. Life is what you make it, working hard to achieve your dreams, sharing love and laughter with family and friends and taking care of yourself and those around you.

As the Chinese celebrated their New Year this week, I thought I’d investigate what Chinese Zodiac sign is attributed to me and what that supposedly means about my personality.

It seems that as my hubby and I were born in the same year, we were both born in the year of the Ox, in particular the Metal Ox 🐂, characterising us both as strong willed and very self assured 🤔🤔.

We also share our sign with some famous self assured people:-

• Barack Obama: born on August 4, 1961, also a Metal Ox
• Vincent Van Gogh: born on March 30, 1853, a Water Ox
• Walt Disney: born on December 5, 1901, a Gold Ox
• Margaret Thatcher: born on October 13, 1925, a Wood Ox

After perusing several sites on the interweb, they all appeared to suggest similar characteristics, which scarily seemed quite accurate 😬

Metal Oxen in general

1. Of all the Oxen, the Metal Ox is the most sociable. He has lots of friends, and allows himself to have fun, and relax. ✅
2. Oxen are strong willed and are very self-assured. They are not afraid to express their point of view and are straightforward in their views. The energy of Metal Ox is combined with the sharpness of the words spoken, caused by a sense of frankness and justice. ✅ 😳
3. Metal Oxen are honest people, you can rely on them. They will not promise what they can not do. They are low key and never look for praise or to be the centre of attention. This often hides their talent, but they’ll gain recognition through their hard work. ✅
4. They are connoisseurs of fine art (🤣🤣) and are always happy with their friends, and their surroundings. ✅
5. Metal Oxen should not take too seriously external aggression from surrounding people. It’s better to be who you are. ✅
6. Metal Oxen are very fond of spicy dishes, and different seasonings, ✅ but it is better for them to eat oatmeal dishes and give preference to horse meat. 🤭
7. The colour that brings them happiness and luck is blue 🤷‍♀️…….. Maybe I need a little more blue in my life 🤣

I then discovered there were characteristics attributed to just

Metal Ox Woman !!

1. Liberated, brave and doesn’t accept pretence ✅
2. Expresses her own, sometimes sharp opinions ✅
3. Not shy or modest ✅
4. Knows what she wants and how to achieve it ✅
5. Doesn’t waste time on what is not interesting or beneficial ✅
6. Likes to make plans and tries to achieve them ✅
7. Likes to keep a clean house, where her husband and family are surrounded by care and love ✅
8. Has a strong family alliance, where the honorary head of the family is left to her. ✅

I then wondered whether, according to the zodiac whether two Oxen would be compatible in marriage, and found although we would, supposedly, be better paired with a Rat, a Snake or a Rooster, it is said:-

After almost 42 years of marriage, I think I’d probably have to agree.

Having started my searches a little bit sceptically and as a little bit of fun, it is a wee bit disconcerting to find that, under the Chinese horoscope, I appear to be a typical Ox. I guess however most of my friends were already aware of it 🤣

So I should probably apologise to anyone my sharp tongue has offended, but I have always been an honest person and, good or bad, I say things as I see them.

At least with this particular Ox, like it or not, you know where you stand 🤣
