Way back in February 2020, as I approached my 59th, the Bestie suggested I make a list of 60 things to do before my 60th birthday. Apart from the odd hiccup in life, I have been a lucky lady and had some wonderful experiences along my journey. So as I sat down to make a to do list, I initially only came up with a mere 30 🙄.
You can revisit the original post here:- 60’s Countdown
The year started really well and within a few weeks of my 59th birthday we had already “ticked off” 5 experiences. However then Covid struck and the country went into lockdown 😢 and 15 months later we are only just emerging.
Undeterred and with my 60th birthday now four months behind me, the list has been resurrected, has become things to do at 60 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
With that in mind we boarded the train and headed to London for the day. It was a bit strange and very warm wearing masks for the hour and a half journey, but these are strange times.
Our first appointment was at the Sky Garden, which had been booked and cancelled at least 3 times over the past year. As we strolled from the station through Hays Galleria, London seemed very quiet, not the hustling bustling city we know and love. It did make it easier to get around and we arrived at the Sky Garden half an hour before our booking. It wasn’t an issue though as we had to go through checking in and security, before taking the lift to the 35th floor. The year long wait had been worth it, as we stepped through the cafe to the viewing platform it was wow just wow. On a glorious summers day the views over London took your breath away. Looking down onto all the famous sights of the capital, from Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard all the way out to the Olympic Stadium, the O2 arena and a tiny glimpse of Buckingham Palace. We were amazed at how many buildings had rooftop gardens, some bigger than my garden at home!

We returned inside climbing a little higher, to experience 360* views of the city, exploring the vibrant indoor tropical garden along the way. A little bit of paradise in the sky. Amazing.

As we reached the end of the garden, the Besties received the wonderful news that their daughter had safely delivered their latest little Grandson 👶, so naturally we had to take a seat and wet the babies head. Well it would be rude not to 🥂

Back down to earth and after a lovely lunch of pie, mash and liquor, it was time to stroll along the river to walk off some of the calories and take in some more of the wonderful sights.
Our destination was the Lyric theatre to see Six the Musical, which had ironically been rescheduled six times. It is a very light hearted story of the six wives of Henry V111. It certainly wasn’t a boring old history lesson. With the six wives on stage for the entire 75 minutes performance, along with their four ladies in waiting (the band), they told each of the wives story, from their own perspective in a very lively, very humorous way, adding a touch of modernity with the taking of selfies and rave music too.
Despite the current restrictions it was a fantastic show, worth the wait and one I would definitely see again.
So with a light shining at the end of what has been a VERY long tunnel, we have been adventuring further afield and having ticked off a couple of my wishes I am invigorated to revisit and maybe add to my 60’s list.
Watch this space 😆 and if I don’t managed to fulfil them all by my 61st birthday, I can hand the baton over to the Bestie as she will then be starting her own countdown.
🤣🤣🤣 The adventures continue 🤣🤣🤣

A lovely day and as you say ‘ the adventures continue ‘ 🤞xx
We can only hope 🤞
